NEON BRICK BREAKER

Paddle Control Techniques for Brick Breaker

Most lives are not lost to fast balls — they are lost to a paddle in the wrong place. These habits keep you under the ball with time to spare.

Return to the middle

After every hit, drift back towards the centre of the board. From the middle, no wall bounce is more than half a screen away. Players who chase the ball to the edge and stay there get caught by the rebound.

Read the line, not the ball

Watch the trail of pink dots behind the ball. It shows the real path the ball took over the last fraction of a second, so its direction tells you which way the ball is heading before your eyes catch up. When the trail bends at a wall, you know exactly where the new line starts.

Choose the right control

Mouse control is the most precise: the paddle goes exactly where the cursor goes. Keyboard control moves at a fixed speed, which is steadier but slower to cross the board — start moving early. On touch screens the paddle moves relative to your drag, so you can keep your finger low and out of the way.

Don't over-correct

Small, early movements beat big late ones. If the ball is still above the bricks, you have more time than it feels like — the paddle is near the bottom of a tall arena.
